Victor Alistar is a university professor at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (NUPSPA), Faculty of Public Administration since 2000, as well as executive director of Transparency International Romania since 2005. Mr. Alistar is also coordinating on behalf of the TI movement the global Integrity, Independence and Accountability of the Judiciary initiative since 2014.
While working with TI Romania, he has been involved in several advocacy campaigns on anticorruption topics, as well as in the drafting of several public policy proposals on anticorruption, judicial reform, human rights and implementation of EU Directives such as the one of free legal aid, non-financial disclosure, anti-money laundering or public procurement, many of which being passed by the government. I have also worked on several projects aimed at assessing judicial integrity and strengthening judicial capacity, both at national and regional level, raising awareness on integrity and the fight against corruption, including establishing the Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC) in 2004 and the Centre for Integrity in Business in 2011. Using the Romanian model, ALAC has been extended up to now in other 60 countries.
In addition to his work at TI Romania and NUPSPA, he is also representing Romanian civil society as a member of European Economic and Social Committee, he is a member in the Strategic Committee of the General Anticorruption Directorate and a member in the civil society cooperation platform for the implementation of the National Anticorruption Strategy.
