Arwa Hassan holds degrees from Cambridge University in England (BA & MA) and Warwick University (MA). She is an international development specialist with almost 20 years spent focusing on the Middle East North Africa region. Ms. Hassan has worked closely with civil society organizations, the private sector and governments for many years. She was with the German Government Development Agency, GTZ for two years and was with Transparency International for more than sixteen years, most recently as Regional Outreach Manager building strategic partnerships in the MENA region. Ms. Hassan has regularly lectured and presented at international fora and various universities on the issues of combating corruption, governance, and institutional reform. She has trained officials and civil society in the MENA region on governance and anti-corruption. She possesses strong conflict resolution skills and long-standing experience of strengthening civil society groups and of promoting dialogue between governments and NGOs. Ms. Hassan is now Programme Director of the Good Governance Cluster Yemen at the GIZ.
