Soumaya Belaid

I Watch Organization
Programs Manager (Anti-corruption | Transparency | People Engagement)
Tunis, Tunisia
Soumaya is a Tunisian youth activist who comes from an English Literature educational background. Having a great passion to poetry, but a greater interest to the issues of corruption and lack of transparency, she devoted her career to fighting corruption and engaging people in the process. For 4 years, the young girl has been working with civil society organizations. In fact, Soumaya is one of the originals in I WATCH organization. She has been involved with the NGO since December 2011 both as a volunteer and a Board Member. In December 2012, Soumaya joined the United Nations Development Program as a consultant to collaborate in the building of the National Strategy of Fighting Corruption along with other civil society experts. In April 2014, she was taken on as I WATCH's Anti-corruption, Transparency and People Engagement Programs Manager. Being curious about the relationship between corruption and terrorism, Soumaya will start a masters degree in Security Studies starting from September 2015 at the University of Birmingham so that her expertise of anti-corruption is complemented with a knowledge of terrorism and security.
