Mirella Dummar Frahi holds a master’s degree in political science from Sapienza University of Rome. After one year in the private sector, she joined the United Nations in 1989 where she served in a number of different capacities and with various agencies of the system, including four years in Pakistan – covering Afghanistan with the Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Since 2006 she has led the Civil Society Team at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and from 2010 coordinated UNODC project “Looking Beyond: Towards a stronger partnership with Civil society Organizations on Drugs and Crime” which aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society to fight corruption by improving their understanding of UNCAC and by facilitating their engagement with multiple stakeholders including government entities and the private sector.
