Argentina

Laura Alonso is Secretary of Public Ethics, Transparency and Fight against Corruption, in charge of the Anti-Corruption Office (Argentina). She ran for office in 2009 and was reelected in the National Congress in 2013. She was executive director of the NGO Poder Ciudadano, the Argentine chapter of Transparency International. In 2012, Laura Alonso was selected as the Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and as a Fellow at the Draper Hills Democracy and Development Program at the University of Stanford. In 2008 she became an Eisenhower Fellow and was honoured by Vital Voices Global Partnership as an outstanding woman global leader. She is a 2000 British Chevening Scholar. She is co-founder and Board member of Vital Voices Argentina, that promotes women leadership in politics, civil society and economy. She also serves as a Board Member of the Institute of the Argentine-American Culture. She has a degree in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires. She holds a Masters degree in Public Administration and Public Policy, School of Economics and Political Science, London.
